The main question she raises is if such exports were soleley determined by the management of commercial policy or if it is necessary to search for other explanatory factors. Her analysis leads her to conclude that important among the latter have been aspects such as the evolution of domestic demand, the degree of openness of the economy, the competitiveness of domestic production in world markets, the stability of the legal framework, and the attitude of the business community towards exports. The author thus gives us an integral vision of the export boom of the seventies by examining those aspects which normally remain hidden behind the process of commercial policy implementation.En el presente articulo la autora investiga las razones del auge experimentado por las exportaciones textiles a partir de la segunda mitad de la década de los setenta en el Perú. La principal interrogante que se plantea la autora es si dichas exportaciones fueron determinadas únicamente por el manejo de la política comercial o si es necesario remitirse a la búsqueda de otros factores explicativos. Su análisis la lleva a concluir que la evolución de aquéllas también se ha visto influida en forma importante por factores tales como el comportamiento de la demanda interna, el grado de apertura del mercado extemo, la competitividad real de la producción, la estabilidad de las reglas de juego y la actitud del empresario hacia la actividad exportadora.
