This part includes a general analysis of the two key articles of Coase's Theory: 'The Nature of the Firm' and 'The Problem of the Social Costs'. These articles outline the 'transaction cost' concept, which helps us to understand both the Economy as well as the Law institutional designs.El presente artículo sintetiza y explica los alcances del trabajo de Ronald Coase que lo hicieron acreedor del Premio Nobel de Economía. El autor no sólo analiza el aporte de Coase a la Teoría Económica sino sobre todo su contribución a la compresión del diseño de los sistemas e instituciones jurídicas. Dentro de esta línea se analiza, en términos generales los aportes de los dos artículos claves en la Teoría Cousiana: 'La naturaleza de la Empresa' y el 'Problema del Costo Social'.
