The research studies fifty-eight diverse experiences, developed by teams constituted by professors and students from different disciplines, some of them interdisciplinary, from twenty Argentine public universities, in varied social contexts. Some of these experiences are conceptualized by their participants in terms of university extension, social reach, service learning, action-research, or university voluntary work. Their common characteristic is that all of them have received support from the University Voluntary Program of the Secretary of University Policies, of the Ministry of Education of Argentina, in 2008.Este artículo examina algunos aprendizajes que equipos universitarios han logrado mediante experiencias extracurriculares de colaboración intercultural con comunidades y organizaciones sociales, así como algunas dificultades institucionales asociadas. La investigación analiza las respuestas a cuestionarios especialmente diseñados dadas por los responsables de 58 experiencias muy diferentes entre sí, desarrolladas por equipos de diversas disciplinas y/o interdisciplinarios de 20 de esas universidades; experiencias realizadas en contextos sociales muy disímiles entre sí, que según los casos son conceptualizadas por sus protagonistas en términos de extensión, vinculación social, aprendizaje-servicio, investigación-acción o voluntariado.
