It can be stated that economic success in the short term was followed by the appearance of inflationary pressures and the aggravation of unbalances in different sectors of the economy, as well as in relative prices. As a result, the economic program derived into a severe crisis by mid-1987.El presente artículo analiza los dos primeros años del gobierno de Alan García -que corresponden a las características de un régimen heterodoxo- a la luz de un modelo propuesto, basado en la determinación de la oferta y demanda agregadas y centrado en el funcionamiento de los precios relativos. La aplicación del modelo permite señalar que el éxito económico de corto plazo fue seguido por el surgimiento de presiones inflacionarias y de desequilibrios en diversos sectores de la economía, así como en precios relativos.
