In this paper, is analyzed the application of Amartya Sen and Martha Nussbaum proposalsabout adaptive preferences and the capabilities approach.After six years of crisis in the international coffee market, real income of theproducers decreased drastically. Many proposals exist to made good policies forimprove the welfare of peruvian coffee producers in this context, like it is madein other producing countries. The contribution of this paper is the identificationof adaptive preferences for coffee producers from Peru and Colombia, andanalyzing the basis of information that will be need for make such a goodpolicies.Finally, in this paper, are analyzed some subjective indicators of evaluation ofthe well-being for coffee producers in Perú and Colombia, like decrease in thesowed area, and other indicators of social impact that try to measure changes inwell-being. This paper will conclude that there are evidences of the process ofthe adaptive preferences in the cases of coffee producers from Peru and Colombia.En el enfoque de capacidades, hay una consideración sobre la distribucióninicial del ingreso para evaluar el bienestar, lo cual permite incluir la experiencia previa del individuo en sus trayectorias de ingreso. Por consiguiente, el análisis de los costos o beneficios sociales de políticas puede medirse de manera diferente de la “utilitarista”. En este artículo, se aplican las propuestas de Amartya Sen y de Martha Nussbaum sobre preferencias adaptables y el enfoque decapacidades.Después de seis años de crisis en el mercado internacional de café, el ingreso de los productores se redujo drásticamente. Existen muchas propuestas sobre cómo apoyar a los productores peruanos con buenas políticas, como lo hacen otrospaíses productores. La contribución del presente estudio está en la identificación de las preferencias adaptables para los productores de café peruanos y colombianos, y la identificación de las bases de información necesarias para realizar tales buenas políticas.Finalmente, en este ensayo, son analizados algunos indicadores subjetivos para la evaluación del bienestar para productores de café en Perú y Colombia, como cambios en el área sembrada y otros indicadores de impacto social que tratan de medir el cambio en el bienestar.
