This article artalyzes the economic policy of the socialist government and its theoretical foundations, attempting to judge them on the basis of efficiency and equity criteria.En los últimos años son frecuentes las referencias en los medios de comunicación internacional al modelo económico puesto en marcha en España para hacer frente a la crisis económica de los 70, con fuerte presencia de Pactos Sociales y, en especial, a las actuaciones del PSOE. En el presente trabajo se realiza un análisis de la política económica del PSOE, asi como de su fundamentación teórica, con el objetivo de dilucidar hasta qué punto se pueden considerar exitosas en términos de eficiencia económica y equidad distributiva.
