The population is530 adolescents from 12 to 17 years old, students of the secondary level of a private school in Juliaca,Puno. The sample was confirmed by 320 participants, obtained through a non-probability conveniencesampling. The evaluation instruments were: The Emotional Intelligence Scale - WLEIS and the FACESIII Family Functionality Scale. Results: About 95% of the students present between average and highlevels of emotional intelligence, likewise 70% of the students perceive a healthy degree of cohesionand family adaptability and 30% perceive deficiencies and conflicts in their functionality family. On theother hand, the correlation of both variables was carried out through Spearman’s rho coefficient, whereit is appreciated that there is a moderate direct significant correlation between Family Functioning andEmotional Intelligence in adolescent high school students in general ( r = .465 **, p = .000) and withtheir respective dimensions. Conclusion: The higher the perceived family Functionality, the higher thelevels of Emotional Intelligence the adolescent will develop.Objetivo: Determinar si existe relación significativa entre la inteligencia emocional y el funcionamientofamiliar en adolescentes estudiantes del nivel secundario. Metodología: Enfoque cuantitativo, detipo descriptivo correlacional y tiene un diseño no experimental, transversal. La población son 530adolescentes de 12 a 17 años, estudiantes del nivel secundario de un colegio privado de Juliaca,Puno. La muestra estuvo confirmada por 320 participantes, obtenidas a través de un muestreo noprobabilístico por conveniencia. Los instrumentos de evaluación fueron: La Escala de InteligenciaEmocional – WLEIS y la Escala de funcionalidad familiar FACES III. Resultados: Los resultadosobtenidos permitieron evidenciar que cerca del 95% de los estudiantes presentan niveles entre promedioy alto de inteligencia emocional, asimismo el 70% de los estudiantes perciben un grado saludable decohesión y adaptabilidad familiar y el 30% percibe carencias y conflictos en su funcionalidad familiar.Por otro lado, se realizó la correlación de ambas variables a través del coeficiente de rho de Spearman,en donde se aprecia que existe una correlación significativa directa moderada entre el funcionamientofamiliar y la inteligencia emocional en los adolescentes estudiantes del nivel secundario de manerageneral (r = .465**, p = .000) y con sus respectivas dimensiones.
