Materials and methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted on 411 fathers after the birth of their last child, using a data collection form and the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS). Descriptive, bivariate, and multivariate analyses were performed using Poisson regression with a 95% confidence level. Results: One hundred-fourteen (27.7%) out of the 411 fathers were at risk of experiencing PPD. Of these, 58.9% were adults over 30 years old (p = 0.041); 61.6% had a stable employment (p = 0,038), but only 38.0% were satisfied with their salary (p = 0.001). Among fathers at risk for PPD, 65.8% confronted an unplanned pregnancy (p = 0.009). Additionally, 52.6% reported increased relationship conflicts (p < 0.001), and 43.0% preferred to stay away from home (p < 0,001). In the Poisson regression analysis, increased marital relationship conflicts [RPa: 1.74 (1.17-2.60); p = 0.01] and a preference for staying away from home [Rpa: 1.76 (1.17-2.65); p = 0.01], were identified as risk factors for PPD. Conclusions: In Peru, 27.7% of men are likely to experience postpartum depression, in association with relationship conflicts, and a desire to stay away from home.
