Materials and methods: An in vitro study was conducted using 20 maxillary premolars, on which lithium disilicate veneers were cemented. The specimens were divided into two groups of ten samples each. Each tooth was prepared on the vestibular surface for subsequent veneer fabrication. In Group 1, veneers were cemented with resin cement (Nexus-3), whereas in Group 2, thermally modified resin (Herculite Précis™) was used. Subsequently, the teeth underwent a thermocycling process and were immersed in a 2% methylene blue solution for five days, after which sagittal sections were performed for observation under an optical microscope. Results: A higher percentage of microleakage was observed in the group cemented with resin cement (47.5%; n = 19) compared to the group treated with thermally modified resin (32.5%; n = 13), with a p-value of = 0.018. Additionally, greater microleakage was detected at the cervical and mid-levels in the resin cement group compared to the thermally modified resin group, with a p-value of = 0.046. Conclusion: Microleakage was observed in both groups. When comparing the two luting agents, resin cement showed significantly greater microleakage than thermally modified resin.

Materiales y métodos: Se realizó un estudio in vitro utilizando 20 premolares superiores, a los cuales se les cementó carillas de disilicato de litio. Los especímenes se dividieron en dos grupos de diez muestras cada uno. A cada pieza se le realizó un tallado en la superficie vestibular para la posterior elaboración de las carillas. En el grupo 1, las carillas fueron cementadas con cemento resinoso (NX3 Nexus®), mientras que en el grupo 2 se utilizó resina termomodificada (Herculite Précis®). Posteriormente, las piezas fueron sometidas a un proceso de termociclado y sumergidas en una solución de azul de metileno al 2 % durante cinco días, tras lo cual se realizaron cortes sagitales para su observación mediante microscopía óptica. Resultados: Se observó un mayor porcentaje de microfiltración en el grupo cementado con cemento resinoso (47,50 %; n = 19) en comparación con el grupo tratado con resina termomodificada (32,50 %; n = 13), con un valor de p = 0,018. Asimismo, se evidenció una mayor microfiltración a nivel cervical y medio en el grupo del cemento resinoso en comparación con el grupo cementado con resina termomodificada, con un valor de p = 0,046. Conclusión: Se evidenció microfiltración en ambos grupos. Os espécimes foram divididos em dois grupos de dez amostras cada um. Cada espécime teve sua superfície vestibular fresada para a fabricação subsequente das facetas. No grupo 1, as facetas foram cimentadas com cimento resinoso (Nexus-3), enquanto no grupo 2 foi usada resina termomodificada (Herculite Précis™). Em seguida, as peças foram termocicladas e imersas em uma solução de azul de metileno a 2% por cinco dias, após os quais foram feitas seções sagitais para observação por microscopia de luz. Resultados: Foi observada uma porcentagem maior de microinfiltração no grupo cimentado com cimento resinoso (47,5%; n = 19) em comparação com o grupo tratado com resina termomodificada (32,5%; n = 13), com um valor de p de 0,018. Além disso, uma maior microinfiltração no nível cervical e médio foi evidente no grupo do cimento resinoso em comparação com a resina termomodificada, com um valor de p de 0,046. Conclusão: a microinfiltração foi evidente em ambos os grupos.
