For this reason, it was carried out as a quantitative, explanatory and quasi-experimental design investigation. The sample is non-probabilistic and consisted of 41 students distributed in two groups: experimental and control. For data collection, the observation sheet was used. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used for data analysis by applying the Wilcoxon test, with a significance level of 0.05. The results obtained in the present investigation allow us to conclude that the application of verbal games has a significant effect on the increase of the learning of the English language in students of the first grade of secondary education (Zc = 5.163; Zt = 1.64; p <0.001 ).El artículo que se presenta se desarrolló teniendo como objetivo determinar el efecto que produce la aplicación de los juegos verbales como estrategia en el desarrollo de la expresión oral en el idioma inglés en estudiantes del primer año de educación secundaria en la Institución Educativa San Cristóbal de Socos –Ayacucho ,2020. Por ello  se concretó como  una  investigación  cuantitativa, explicativa  y de diseño cuasi experimental. La muestra es no probabilística y  estuvo conformada por 41 estudiantes  distribuidos  en dos grupos: experimental y control. Para la  recolección de datos, se utilizó la  ficha de observación. Para el análisis de datos se utilizó  la estadística descriptiva e inferencial  mediante la aplicación  de la prueba Wilcoxon, con un nivel de significancia de 0,05.
