Likewise, it was developed within the framework of the research line of Society, environmental public policies and sustainable development of the postgraduate unit. To achieve this objective, a quantitative and applied approach, explanatory level and pre-experimental design were used. The sample —not probabilistic— allowed to work with 33 students of the X Cycle of the E.A.P. Language and literature; enrolled in the verbal reasoning course. The Likert scale was used as a psychometric instrument and the Technique was observation; this instrument was validated through expert judgment. The results showed that the students of the E.A.P. Language and Literature improved their general skills; in the general hypothesis test through the Wilcoxon statistic, the difference between the pretest and posttest is significant (Z=-5.01, p=000). It was concluded that the intervention program was efficient.El objetivo de la investigación fue propiciar el aprendizaje basado en problemas para el desarrollo de las competencias generales de los estudiantes de la E.A.P. de Lengua y Literatura de la Universidad Nacional San Luis Gonzaga, 2021. Materiales y métodos. Se realizó la búsqueda de la literatura mediante las principales bases de datos, publicados entre los años 2017 y 2021. Asimismo, se desarrolló en el marco de la línea de investigación de Sociedad, políticas públicas ambientales y desarrollo sostenible de la unidad de posgrado. Para alcanzar este objetivo se utilizó un enfoque cuantitativo y de tipo aplicada, nivel explicativo y diseño preexperimental. La muestra —no probabilística— permitió trabajar con 33 estudiantes del X Ciclo de la E.A.P. Lengua y Literatura; matriculados en el curso de razonamiento verbal. Se utilizó como instrumento psicométrico la escala de Likert y la técnica fue la observación; dicho instrumento fue validado a través de juicio de expertos.
