The data reported here include measurement of blood loss and the gravimetric technique was compared with those conducted under normotensive anesthesia. A group of 40 radical mastectomies was subjected to properly controlled conditions in a comparative study to assess to what extent - if at all - such typical operations are aided by controlled hypotension.Se han discutido las diferentes técnicas de anestesia hipotensiva y sus bases fisiológicas. La técnica utilizada por nosotros en las primeras 53 operaciones están escritas en detalle. Fundamentalmente fué la de Enderby, empleando el bromuro de Hexamethonio y la isquemia postural combinada. Nuestras observaciones fueron analizadas. Los datos reportados aquí incluyen la medida de la pérdida sanguínea por la técnica gravimétrica y fué comparada con aquellas operaciones realizadas bajo anestesia normotensiva.
