Erythropoietic activity has been found in a variety of fluids including creónlcos plasma, urine (2) milk (3) and isolation of active eritropoyéticamente anterior pituitary (4, 5) material. However, such activity demonstrated in organic fluids in primary form, followed some procedures which showed decrease in capacity utilization of oxygen by the blood (Phenylhydrazine (6), bleeding (7), hypoxia, etc...) In pathological or after administration of cobalt (8) states ; such entity has not been possible to isolate sufficient active fractions to a suitable chemical and biological research. In observations made in large numbers of patients with various types of blood disorders owner trying to erythropoietin plasma, the incorporation of Fe59 into erythrocytes was used as evidence (9) being found in patients with thalassemia and certain cases of leukemia (10), showed marked elevation in their titles. Urine of these patients achieved erythropoietin extracting high power. The above us serves as starting point for the implementation of this work was performed under the direction of DI.Desde que se demostró que la eritropoyesis, se encuentra sujeta a control hormonal (1), la búsqueda del sitio de producción de este factor y la fuente adecuada, de la cual la hormona eritropoyética podría ser aislada, ha sido objeto de múltiples investigaciones. Actividad eritropoyética se ha encontrado en gran variedad de fluidos creónlcos incluyendo plasma, orina (2), la leche (3) y aislamiento de material eritropoyéticamente activo de la pituitaria anterior (4, 5). Sin embargo, tal actividad demostrada en fluídos orgánicos en forma primaria, siguió a algunos procedimientos en los que se demostró disminución en la capacidad de utilización del oxígeno por la sangre (Phenylhydrazine (6), sangrados (7), hipoxia, etc.). En estados patológicos o luego de la administración de cobalto (8); de tales entidades no ha sido posible aislar fracciones activas en cantidad suficiente para una adecuada investigación química y biológica. En observaciones realizadas en gran número de pacientes, con diversos tipos de alteraciones hematológicas tratando de titular la eritropoyetina plasmática, se usó la incorporación del Fe59 en hematíes como prueba (9) hallándose pacientes con talasemia y en determinados casos de leucemia (10), que mostraban marcada elevación en sus títulos. De la orina de estos pacientes se ha logrado la extracción de eritropoyetina de alta potencia.
