Sumario:From Hippocrates conviction that heredity influences the genesis of mental illness claims. But only in this century accurate in the underlying investigation, thanks to the rediscovery (by De Vries, Correns and Tchermak almost simultaneously in 1900) of the work of the Augustinian monk Gregor Mendel (the first and fundamental statement of direction is defined experiences made ​​by him hybridization in plants was published in 1865).
