Its objectives may be multiple, simul-taneously acting alone or cumulatively. The size of a large tongue has been found as an impediment to correct such alternations, though this is a cause of causing malocclusion. the importance of the application of myofunctional therapies for prevention and rehabilitation of soft tissue, as these can cause malocclusions and lack of facial development, affecting the aesthetics of the patient stands.La presente revisión tiene como objetivo determinar la deglución atípica en las maloclusiones. Cuando existen movimientos inadecuados de la lengua y/o de otras estructuras durante la fase bucal y faríngola-ríngea de la deglución, hablamos de deglución atípica, como un hábito no fisiológico. Sus objetivos pue-den ser múltiples, actuando solos o simultáneamente de forma acumulativa. El tamaño de una lengua grande se ha encontrado como impedimento para corregir tales alternaciones, sin ser ésta una causa de originar la maloclusiones.
