Once passed exams to graduate be conferred the title of Specialist in Psychiatry .Después de revisar brevemente los requisitos que deben tener los hospitales para organizar programas de residencias psiquiátricas, se describe el estado actual de las unidades psiquiátricas de Lima, a la luz de una encuesta realizada tomando en cuenta los datos de los Departamentos de Estadística de los diversos nosocomios, las respuestas a un cuestionario que contestó el personal asistencial de cada servicio, y las observaciones directas realizadas por el autor. Teniendo en cuenta las deficiencias encontradas, se propone un plan de adiestramiento, a llevarse a cabo en un período de tres a cinco años, con el fin de dar conocimientos y experiencia suficientes, de acuerdo a las tendencias actuales, para adecuada preparación de psiquiatras, que permita al candidato estar en condiciones de aprobar un examen de capacidad de dos etapas: ciencias básicas y psiquiatría clínica.
