The people of Pararin are considered as actors of their local history with capacity for agency. Thus, in the decade of 1960, this peasant community used their historical memory to come together, and undertook a process of struggle to reclaim what their regarded, historically, their agricultural lands in the Fortaleza valley. Ultimately, they obtained the recognition of the State, but not without some unexpected difficulties during the process.Esta investigación se ubica en la línea temática de la antropología histórica. Aborda el proceso de reivindicación de tierras de la comunidad campesina de Pararín, en el norte del Perú, en un contexto de movilizaciones campesinas en su lucha por la tierra. Los pararinos son concebidos como sujetos de su historia local, con capacidad de agencia. Así, estos comuneros utilizaron su memoria histórica para cohesionarse y luego emprendieron un proceso de lucha reivindicativa de lo que consideraron, históricamente, sus tierras agrarias en el valle Fortaleza, lo cual ocurrió en la década de 1960.
