Likewise, the relationships between the Peruvian enlightened people and their humanist thought are analyzed to determine the exchange of philosophical ideas in this context.  Este artículo muestra los estudios que se han realizado en torno al pensamiento de Toribio Rodríguez de Mendoza y cómo se ha intentado presentar sus ideas vinculadas a la filosofía. Las ideas ilustradas comparadas van desde el pensamiento inglés hasta el alemán, con el fin de encontrar influencias. Asimismo, se analizan las relaciones que hay entre los ilustrados peruanos y su pensamiento humanista, para determinar el intercambio de ideas filosóficas en ese contexto. Para ello, se tuvo como objetivo revisar las influencias del humanismo y de la ilustración que estudió Rodríguez de Mendoza, que van desde Bacon hasta Descartes. Este interés, como se concluye, se evidencia en su crítica a la enseñanza repetitiva de Aristóteles y en su afinidad por las ideas políticas liberales.
