In the historic center and other spaces in the city of Mérida, there are signs written in Spanish, English and Yucatec Maya, whose information is an attraction for visitors, the people of foreign origin, and English speakers who live in the city. From the point of view of sociolinguistics, this study aims to analyze the linguistic attitudes towards the Mayan language in relation to the linguistic landscape by some English-speaking foreigners in the Yucatecan capital, since there are no studies about this population sector. From a semi-directed interview, the testimonies of speakers who have English as their first language were analyzed. Among the most outstanding attitudes are the critical stance that analyzes the absence of Mayan readers towards their own language, since this landscape is directed towards tourists and not towards Mayan speakers, according to the Anglo-American informants. However, they point out that the strength and presence of Yucatecan Maya as a language of Yucatan is a reality in this context. |

Desde la sociolingüística, el estudio busca analizar las actitudes lingüísticas hacia la lengua maya en relación con el paisaje lingüístico por algunos extranjeros anglohablantes en la capital yucateca, ya que no existen estudios acerca de este sector de población. A partir de una entrevista semidirigida se analizaron los testimonios de hablantes que tienen el inglés como primera lengua. Entre las actitudes más sobresalientes destaca la propia postura crítica que analiza la ausencia de lectores mayas hacia su propia lengua, ya que dicho paisaje está dirigido hacia los turistas y no hacia los mayahablantes, según los informantes angloamericanos. Sin embargo, ellos señalan que la fortaleza y presencia del maya yucateco como una lengua de Yucatán está vigente en este contexto.RESUMO No centro histórico e em outros espaços da cidade de Mérida, há placas cuja informação aparece em espanhol, inglês e yucatec maia, cujas informações são uma atração para visitantes e população de origem estrangeira, falantes de inglês que vivem na cidade. A partir da sociolinguística, o estudo tem como objetivo analisar as atitudes linguísticas em relação à língua maia na paisagem linguística por alguns estrangeiros de língua inglesa na capital yucateca, uma vez que não há estudos sobre esse setor da população. A partir de uma entrevista semi-dirigida, foram analisados os testemunhos de falantes que têm o inglês como primeira língua. Entre as atitudes mais destacadas estão a postura crítica que analisa a ausência de maia em relação à sua própria língua, uma vez que essa paisagem é voltada para turistas e não para falantes maia, segundo os informantes anglo-americanos.
