He was pupil and successor of Cayetano Heredia in the class of Descriptive Anatomy at San Fernando. In the scientific aspect he was predecessor of the knowledge about the movement of the heart auriculo-ventricular valves. In  the institutional aspect he was permanent defender of the university autonomy and chair freedom as well as fighter for cult freedom and rights equality between both men and women.Se presenta la vida y obra del Dr. Celso Bambarén Ramírez, considerado como uno de los sabios peruanos del Siglo XIX. Bambarén fue Senador del Congreso de la República, Vicerrector de la Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos y fundador de la Academia Nacional de Medicina. Este insigne médico fue discípulo y sucesor de Cayetano Heredia en la cátedra de Anatomía Descriptiva de San Fernando. En el plano científico, fue precursor del conocimiento acerca del movimiento de las válvulas aurículo-ventriculares del corazón.
