Se ve obligado a veces a revolver toda una montaña de libros para luego al fin, cansado ya, cubierto de polvo, y con las espaldas doloridas, lanzar un suspiro de desaliento. Así es el trabajo del investigador del pasado médico entre nosotros, su tarea es pesada y árdua. Su paciencia se pone a prueba. Así es el estudio de nuestra historia médica, emprendida - como dice el Dr. Lastres - por solo algunos románticos de la ciencia.
