Sumario:An autopsy has been from time immemorial a fundamental element of hospital practice , in the epilogue terminal inpatient care , often awaited with anticipation , helping to clarify confusing clinical situations. Andreas Vesalius , the mid-sixteenth century , represents the beginning of the anatomical study of the human body. In our country, the first in the cadaver dissections were performed in the amphitheater of San Andrés in the mid eighteenth century , considering Unanue based medicine. The autopsy was an inexhaustible source of medical knowledge and teaching in undergraduate and graduate , and that doctors used to assist with the utmost reverence . The pathologist was constituted in the main figure of this momentous event , exposing that box pandora extremely valuable findings which were then complemented by microscopic study and the drafting of clinicopathologic correlation completed the autopsy report , a document that closing the story clinic.
