In 1000 patients admitted to the Institute , 1114 final diagnoses were made , as became a diagnosis in some patients. 72.5 percent of patients were female and 27.5 percent male. Factors park them ( summer or winter ) do not substantially influence the type of patients seen at the Institute or the delay for treatment. The 58.6 percent of cases ( 653 ) were treated as outpatients , 26.7 percent of cases ( 297) were hospitalized and 14.7 percent were referred to other health care facilities . In 653 cases ( 58.6 % of all cases) of patients were treated as outpatients , 441 cases were out of sight before starting appropriate treatment and 212 cases specific treatment began . 653 final diagnoses , in which 75 were malignant neoplasms , benign neoplasms 197 , 6 ​​precancerous , 19 miscellaneous , nonneoplastic 253 , and 103 observations were made . The average number of days elapsed between the date of the first query in the Admissions and date of the start of treatment in the group of cases referred to the above conclusion , was 18 days.Se ha hecho el estudio del tiempo transcurrido entre el momento en que se consultaron por primera vez al Instituto Nacional de Enfermedades Neoplásicas y el momento en que comenzaron a recibir tratamiento específico 1000 pacientes consecutivos vistos en los meses de enero y junio de 1962; los cuales representaron el 6.1 por ciento de los 16,349 pacientes admitidos en el año 1962. En 1000 pacientes admitidos en el Instituto, se realizaron 1114 diagnósticos finales, dado que en algunos pacientes se hizo más de un diagnóstico. El 72.5 por ciento de los pacientes correspondieron al sexo femenino y el 27.5 por ciento al sexo masculino. Los factores estaciona les (verano o invierno) no parecen influir sustancialmente en el tipo de pacientes que consultaron en el Instituto ni en la demora para su tratamiento. El 58.6 por ciento de los casos (653) fueron atendidos en forma ambulatoria, el 26.7 por ciento de los casos (297) fueron hospitalizados y el 14.7 por ciento fueron remitidos a otros centros asistenciales médicos. En los 653 casos (58.6% del total de casos) de enfermos que fueron atendidos en forma ambulatoria, 441 casos se perdieron de vista antes de iniciar el tratamiento correspondiente y 212 casos comenzaron el tratamiento específico. Se realizaron 653 diagnósticos finales, en los cuales 75 fueron neoplasias malignas, 197 neoplasias benignas, 6 precancerosos, 19 misceláneos, 253 no neoplásicos, y 103 en observación.
