The Institute for Tropical Diseases in Hamburg must feel so intimately connected with investigating and certifying bartonellae pleased that through the work of the contributors to the older generation as well as in more recent times, been able to provide some important studies knowledge of this interesting group of etiologic agents.En el Instituto de Enfermedades Tropicales de Hamburgo, fundado por Bernhard Nocht en 1900, se han hecho importantes aportaciones en el estudio del agente etiológíco de la Enfermedad de Carrión. Los organismos pertenecientes al grupo de las bartonellas fueron estudiados por una serie de investigadores en diferentes épocas, con diferentes métodos y desde diferentes puntos de vista.
