Moreira's work during the 70s, 80s and 90s focuses on the Man-Nature-Economy relationship from a Marxist perspective, in the following decades, to continue reflections on a general geographical theory and on the Brazilian socio-spatial configuration.Ruy Moreira pertenece a la generación de geógrafos que renuevan el campo de estudio desde una mirada crítica al capitalismo. Movimiento marcado por Milton Santos (1926-2001), la renovación de la geografía crítica en Brasil tiene como protagonistas al profesor de la Universidad Federal Fluminense y otros renombrados autores como Carlos Walter Porto Conçalves y Rogério Haesbaert.
