His theoretical contributions expanded the knowledge of the psychological problems of man and transcended each of the spheres of human knowledge and work. Therefore, terms such as unconscious, repression, transfer, defense mechanism, etc., are found in the popular vocabulary. Even many people are convinced that psychoanalysis is synonymous with psychology. Psychoanalysis in addition to a psychotherapeutic current, for many people, has become a form and philosophy of life. However, the origin of psychotherapy is unknown, a problem that in this article intends to analyze.Sigmund Freud, el padre del psicoanálisis, es uno de los personajes más polémicos e influyentes del siglo XX, por lo que el impacto de sus ideas controversiales y revolucionarias trasciende hasta nuestros días, no solo en las diversas escuelas profesionales de psicología en Perú y el mundo sino en la vida cotidiana. Sus aportes teóricos ampliaron el conocimiento de los problemas psicológicos del hombre y trascendieron a cada una de las esferas del conocimiento y quehacer humano. Por lo tanto, términos como inconsciente, represión, transferencia, mecanismo de defensa, etc., se encuentran en el vocabulario popular. Incluso muchas personas están convencidas de que psicoanálisis es sinónimo de psicología. El psicoanálisis, además de una corriente psicoterapéutica, para muchas personas, se ha convertido en una forma y filosofía de vida. Sin embargo, se desconoce el origen de la psicoterapia, un problema que en el presente artículo se pretende analizar.Sigmund Freud, pai da psicanálise, é um dos personagens mais controversos e influentes do século XX; portanto, o impacto de suas ideias controversas e revolucionárias transcende até hoje, não apenas nas várias escolas profissionais de psicologia no Peru e no mundo, mas na vida cotidiana. Suas contribuições teóricas expandiram o conhecimento dos problemas psicológicos do homem e transcenderam cada uma das esferas do conhecimento e do trabalho humano. Portanto, os termos como inconsciente, repressão, transferência, mecanismo de defesa, etc., são encontrados no vocabulário popular. Até muitas pessoas estão convencidas de que a psicanálise é sinônimo de psicologia. A psicanálise, além de uma corrente psicoterapêutica, para muitas pessoas, tornou-se uma forma e filosofia de vida.
