The article describes the physical space of the theater, as well as the cultural life that was generated in this important cultural site. Within the historical development, it analyzes its beginnings until its destruction in 1910 after a voracious fire that completely destroyed the structure of the theater. The study has considered its subsequent reopening as part of the celebrations of the centenary of Peru's independence until its present day.El teatro municipal de Trujillo es considerado monumento histórico del Perú a través de la R.S. N° 2900-72-ED, desde el 28 de diciembre de 1972. La presente investigación analiza el monumento desde sus inicios a finales del siglo XIX, hasta el presente. El artículo consigna el espacio físico del teatro, así mismo, la vida cultural que se generó en este importante recinto cultural.
