This system implemented in one personal computer with minimum requirements of hardware, it is known commercially as access point it produces it the company Lucent Technologies and its name commercial it is "Wave Point"whose cost you the 2,000 USD approaches. The cost of the one developed device has and I price of around the 800 dollars, with the same functionality. One of the important tests was to determine the maximum distances of operation of the system, to check that this it is system it is good to comparison of a technology of more cost.El siguiente artículo desarrolla la implementación de un sistema que emplea el espectro ensanchado a través de tarjetas inalámbricas de la compañía Lucent Technologies (a 10 Mb/s). El objetivo principal fue establecer un enlace inalámbrico entre PC's con conexión a Internet. El servidorinalámbrico (wavepoint) fue implementado en plataforma Linux, para lo cual, fue necesario diseñar un driver que permita controlar uma Tarjeta Wave LAN. Los usuarios tienen la capacidad de trabajar en sistema operativo Windows o Linux. Los controladores para tarjetas inalámbricas en plataforma Linux tienen velocidades de 2 MB/s el cual, con el driver diseñado se llega a velocidades de 10 MB/s. Este sistema implementado en una computadora personal con requerimientos mínimos de hardware, se conoce como punto de acceso. Comercialmente lo produce la compañía Lucent Technologies y su nombre comercial es "WavePoint", cuyo costo se aproxima los 2,000 USD. El costo del dispositivodesarrollado tiene un precio de alrededor de los 750 dólares, con la misma funcionalidad.
