Peruvian anthropologist Mg. Alberto Chirif, born in Lima, has dedicated more than 45 years to research on Amazonian peoples. He is co-founder of the Center for Amazonian Research and Promotion (CIPA) and has directed the Pacaya Samiria development and conservation program for two and a half years, funded by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) of Denmark. Since his residence in Iquitos, he has produced a series of works that have allowed to understand the problems, cosmovision and aspirations of the Amazonian peoples, as well as to reflect on their future. His work has evolved towards a focus on the collective rights of indigenous peoples. He has authored outstanding works such as "Después del caucho" (2018) and "Pueblos indígenas amazónicos e industrias extractivas" (2011). In addition, he has served as editor of works such as "Ethnicity and Ecology" (1979), "Deforestation in Times of Climate Change" (2018) and "A History for the Future: Territories and Indigenous Peoples in Alto Amazonas" (2002).
