Further, maintenance costs in automated processes are analyzed and discussed. The conclusion is that such costs tend to be smaller. An application case is discussed in order to validate the recommendations given above.Este articulo resalta la presencia de una apreciable cantidad de dispositivos y equipamiento involucrados en las tareas de medición, de control y de generación de energías auxiliares dentro de una instalación automatizada. También presenta y discute pautas y recomendaciones encaminadas a la elaboración de un plan de mantenimiento, en donde los recursos humanos y tecnológicos tienen que ser cuidadosamente seleccionados con el propósito de asegurar el éxito de la aplicación de dicho plan. Asimismo, se analizan los costos de mantenimiento en instalaciones convenientemente automatizadas, llegándose a la conclusión de que tales costos disminuyen en gran medida.
