This recognition was given for having been the site, during the independence period, of the interview between the Liberator José de San Martín and the viceroy José de la Serna. However, after this declaration, the National Institute of Culture and today the Ministry of Culture have done little to carry out a complete delimitation of the intangible area, the legal physical sanitation, and to carry out an integral project of recovery and restoration of the monument, and its subsequent execution. Moreover, in recent years, the building has been cut down, affecting the integrity of the monument. In this sense, with the Bicentennial approaching and according to institutional documents of the State, we reviewed the actions carried out in Punchauca.La casa, y capilla de la antigua hacienda de Punchauca, fue declarada como Patrimonio Monumental de la Nación en 1980. Este reconocimiento se dio por haber sido sede, en el período independentista, de la entrevista entre el Libertador José de San Martín y el virrey José de la Serna. Sin embargo, después de esta declaratoria poco ha hecho el ex Instituto Nacional de Cultura y hoy el Ministerio de Cultura para realizar una delimitación completa del área intangible, del saneamiento físico legal, de realizar un proyecto integral de recuperación y restauración del monumento, y su posterior ejecución. Más aún en los últimos años ha permitido el recorte del edificio afectando la integridad del monumento.
