None of the mentioned authors should be identified under the labels of intellectualism or voluntarism since they defend the essential unity of the cognitive and affective dimensions in the human being. First, I develop why Aquinas’s position has been labeled intellectualist and how to challenge this label. Second, I examine what position Su´arez shows and what are his nuances on the Thomist conception. Finally, I show what conciliatory point we find between both conceptions in order to obtain a better definition of the ultimate goal and of the authentic nature of the human being.El objetivo del presente trabajo consiste en demostrar que las concepciones que tienen Tom´as de Aquino y Francisco Su´arez sobre la bienaventuranza y la naturaleza humana comparten una estructura com´un, a pesar de algunas diferencias en torno a su concepci´on de esencia. Ninguno de los autores mencionados debe ser identificado bajo las etiquetas de intelectualismo o voluntarismo, dado que defienden la unidad esencial de las dimensiones cognoscitiva y afectiva en el ser humano. Primero, desarrollo por qu´e la postura de Aquino ha sido calificada de intelectualista y c´omo cuestionar esta etiqueta. Segundo, examino qu´e postura muestra Su´arez y cu´ales son sus matices sobre la concepci´on tomista.
