The objective was to evaluate whether the drugs metronidazole, nitazoxanide and clindamycin were capable of controlling the disease once symptoms appeared after inoculating the pathogen in healthy plants. Methodology, healthy 8-year-old palm plants were drilled at a height of 50 cm, then they were inoculated with juice from inflorescences, buds and roots of diseased plants, symptoms appearing after seven months, immediately upon appearance, applications of the drugs for one month, subsequently leaving them under observation for five months. The results were that only plants treated with nitazoxanide survived, with emissions from 506 roots, 10 clusters and 7 buds observed. It was concluded that the drug nitazoxanide managed to control the disease, reflected in the observation of new roots, clusters and buds.La marchitez sorpresiva es una enfermedad letal que afecta a las palmas de aceite en cualquier etapa de su vida, desde plantas de un año para adelante. Una vez que los síntomas se manifiestan, la palma muere rápidamente, generalmente en un periodo de 1 a 2 meses. El objetivo fue determinar si los fármacos metronidazol, nitazoxanida y clindamicina eran capaces de controlar la enfermedad una vez aparecido los síntomas luego de inocular el patógeno en plantas sanas. Metodología, se taladraron plantas de palmas sanas de 8 años a una altura de 50 cm, luego se inocularon con jugo de inflorescencias, cogollos y raíces de plantas enfermas, apareciendo los síntomas a los siete meses, inmediatamente a la aparición, se hicieron aplicaciones de los fármacos durante un mes, posteriormente dejándose en observación por cinco meses. Los resultados fueron que solo las plantas tratadas con nitazoxanida sobrevivieron, observándose emisiones de 506 raíces, de 10 racimos y 7 cogollos.
