It is presented in a conceptual theoretical discussion from the critical analysis of various authors, gaining relevance by showing the way in which actions generate a transformation through the creation and reproduction of situations that are built under vulnerability scenarios in the territory considering the relationship with society. It is concluded that, with respect to social phenomena and their territorial components, the relationship between society and territory responds to a dynamic in the determinants of the development of the social theory of risk, facilitating the understanding of human action.Los cambios que se presentan en la sociedad contemporánea manifiestan la complejidad de sus construcciones, reflejadas en los diferentes riesgos, consecuencia de las acciones humanas y el manejo de los recursos naturales, es por ello, que el objetivo del artículo es analizar la teoría social del riesgo considerando la relación sociedad y territorio en el marco de los estudios urbanos. Se presenta en una discusión teórica conceptual desde el análisis crítico de diversos autores cobrando relevancia al mostrar la manera en la cual las acciones generan una transformación a través de la creación y reproducción de las situaciones que se construyen bajo los escenarios de vulnerabilidad en el territorio considerando la relación con la sociedad.
