To this end, their relationship with the period and historical context was identified. Based on different analyses and texts that describe the characteristics of archiving and narratology: the historical in literature, the registry, and the archive. The methods employed were inductive-deductive, narratology, historical analysis, and hermeneutics, through which the research hypothesis was demonstrated: that the process of the tragic hero in Latin America is closely related to the historical context and the construction of identity, as evidenced by the results. In conclusion, the simultaneous study of the novels with their historical, cultural, and social environment is necessary.El presente artículo tiene como propósito establecer los procesos del héroe trágico moderno latinoamericano en cuatro novelas del escritor Gabriel García Márquez; Cien años de soledad, El amor en los tiempos del cólera, Del amor y otros demonios y Crónica de una muerte anunciada. Para ello se identificó la relación con la época y el contexto histórico. A partir de distintos análisis y textos que describen los rasgos de archivo y de narratología: lo histórico en la literatura, el registro y el archivo. El método empleado fue el inductivo-deductivo, la narratología, el análisis histórico y la hermenéutica, a través de los cuales se demostró la hipótesis de la investigación, que sostiene que el proceso del héroe trágico en Latinoamérica se relaciona estrechamente con el contexto histórico y la construcción de la identidad, esto evidenciado en los resultados.
