The approach was quantitative, the type of research was explanatory, experimental and the design was pre-experimental. A previously validated questionnaire was applied. The inferential test applied was Student's t-test. Results. In the initial test before the application of the program, 72% (18) of the students had a high percentage of lack of knowledge (72%). Likewise, at the end of the program, 96% already knew about global warming. Regarding skills, before the application of the program 72 % had low skills, after the program 88 % had high skills regarding environmental awareness. Conclusions. The educational program on global warming is effective in the development of environmental awareness of the sample under study.Objetivo. Demostrar la efectividad de la aplicación de un programa educativo sobre calentamiento global en el desarrollo de la conciencia ambiental en estudiantes del 5° y 6° grado de la I. E. N.º 84062 del distrito de Cochabamba, provincia de Huacaybamba, departamento de Huánuco (Perú). Métodos. El enfoque fue cuantitativo, el tipo de investigación fue explicativo, experimental y el diseño fue preexperimental. Se aplicó un cuestionario previamente validad. La prueba inferencial aplicada fue la prueba t de Student. Resultados. En la prueba inicial antes de la aplicación del programa, el 72 % (18) de los estudiantes tuvieron alto porcentaje de desconocimiento (72 %) Así mismo, al finalizar el programa se obtuvo que el 96 % ya conocía sobre el calentamiento global. Respecto a las habilidades, antes de la aplicación del programa el 72 % tuvo baja habilidad, después del programa el 88 % tuvo altas habilidades con respecto a la conciencia ambiental. Conclusiones.
