Reynolds Adolescent Depression Scale (RADS) was applied to measure dependent variable and other questionnaires were applied for associated factors. Results: 18,9% of the students presented depression; family dysfunction was observed in 75,7%; 68% presented distorted body image; 18,9% showed bullying; 5,7% of the men and 22,4% of the women evidenced depression. The following associated factors presented a meaningful connection with depression: family dysfunction (p=0,037), distorted body image (p=0,020) and gender (p=0,028). Conclusions: This study showed that an important percentage of adolescents suffer depression. The most outstanding associated factors were distorted body image and family dysfunction. No significant relationship between depression and bullying was found.Introducción: El objetivo del presente estudio fue Determinar la relación entre depresión y tres factores asociados (disfunción familiar, imagen corporal distorsionada y acoso escolar) en los adolescentes de un colegio secundario de la Ciudad de Huánuco en Perú, en octubre del 2016. Métodos: Estudio analítico transversal en una muestra aleatoria estratificada de 169/203 adolescentes del tercero al quinto grado de secundaria. Se aplicó la Escala de Depresión en Adolescentes de Reynolds (EDAR) para medir la variable dependiente y otros cuestionarios, para los factores asociados. Resultados: El 18,9% de los estudiantes presentó depresión; la disfunción familiar se encontró en 75,7%; el 68% presentó imagen corporal distorsionada; el 18,9% manifestó Bullying; se evidenció depresión en 5,7% de los varones y en 22,4% de las mujeres. Los siguientes factores asociados presentaron relación significativa con depresión: disfunción familiar (p=0,037), imagen corporal distorsionada (p=0,020) y género (p=0,028). Conclusiones: El estudio identificó un porcentaje importante de adolescentes que padecen depresión. Sobresalieron la imagen corporal distorsionada y la disfunción familiar como factores asociados.
