Philosophy needs to be properly analyzed and studied. The discipline that handles this is called metaphilosophy. In principle, philosophy is distinguished by the type of questions it raises. Likewise, there are various motivations to start philosophizing. In addition, philosophy as an attitude has specific characteristics such as critical and totalizing capacity. Now, there are obvious metaphilosophical problems. For example, the sense of asking ourselves questions that have no obvious answer. Other problems are those of the definition of philosophy, its orientation and its unity or diversity. Even, the issues of progress and the purpose of philosophy turn out to be very relevant for contemporary reflection.
