The study was experimental at the laboratory level in a batch-type chemical reactor. The sample consisted of the scarlet red 224-F2G direct dye and the corazol blue RD reagents. Measurements of the concentration of the dyes were followed by means of a UV spectrophotometer. As a result, a direct dye degradation close to 100% was obtained after 20 minutes, while the reagents reached approximately 50% at the same time conditions and initial concentration. All reactions show pseudo-first order kinetics with average rate constants of 41,66 and 226,67 min-1 respectively. Likewise, it was observed that as the initial concentration of the dyes increases or in solutions with high concentrations of catalyst, the reaction kinetics decreases. In conclusion, heterogeneous solar photocatalysis using zinc oxide as a catalyst is a viable and ecological alternative for the treatment of colored liquid effluents from the textile industry, it can be successfully used in areas of solar radiation or combined with other technologies.
