Descripción
Sumario:The main objective of the article is to comparatively analyze the features and elements shared by contemporary mobilities towards the European Union and the United States in a context of global geopolitical reconfiguration, focusing attention on human rights violations, violence and racismo towards undocumented migrants. From geopolitics and critical cartographies, the divergences and similarities in both continents are comparatively examined. For this purpose, a bibliographic review was carried out in the field of social sciences on topics of geopolitics, cartographies and mobilities in the 21st century. The main findings show that, although in both geographies the migratory flows are heterogeneous, cutting-edge technology is used to detain migrants, third or more countries are used to function as containment walls, and migrants are held for long periods of time in detention centers, violating their rights. The politics of fear and violence are also used to persuade and stop them.
