description The objective of the study was to analyze corporate social responsibility (CSR) in the corporate reputation of mining companies in Tacna, Peru. The study was conducted between June and November 2024 in Tacna, Peru. A sample of 343 individuals from Palca and Ilabaya was used to evaluate the relationship between CSR and corporate reputation of mining companies. Validated questionnaires were employed, and Cronbach's alpha coefficient was 0.93. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze the variables through relative percentages, and their association was tested using the non-parametric Spearman’s Rho test. The results were considered significant when p<0.05. The findings revealed a negative assessment in the social (91.5% low), economic (85.1% low), and environmental (80.2% low) dimensions. These data suggest a disconnect between mining companies and local communities. The perception of corporate reputation was also negative, with 79% rating ethical values as low, 78.4% evaluating labor conditions negatively, and 80.2% perceiving weak reputational management. The Spearman’s Rho correlation (0.748) shows a significant relationship between CSR and corporate reputation, highlighting the importance of strengthening CSR practices to improve reputation. The conclusion is that the negative perception of CSR practices reflects a disconnect and lack of transparency. It is crucial to align policies with local expectations, improve communication, and ensure consistency to strengthen corporate reputation.

It is crucial to align policies with local expectations, improve communication, and ensure consistency to strengthen corporate reputation.El estudio realizado entre junio y noviembre de 2024 tuvo como objetivo analizar el impacto de la responsabilidad social empresarial (RSE) en la reputación corporativa de las empresas mineras en Tacna, Perú. Participaron 343 individuos de los distritos de Palca e Ilabaya. Los instrumentos empleados fueron la escala de RSE del autor Pino y una Escala que mide la reputación corporativa (ERC) en base al modelo de Villafañe; los cuales fueron validados por juicio de expertos con puntajes V > 0,95 respectivamente; además, se confirmó la validez de contenido con correlación ítem-test>0,4 para RSE y 0,3 en RSE, y una fiabilidad demostrada por el coeficiente alfa de Cronbach, con valores de α = 0,933 para la RSE y α = 0,940 para la ERC.Mediante estadística descriptiva, se analizaron los porcentajes de respuesta en las variables estudiadas, y la relación entre RSE y reputación corporativa se examinó usando la prueba Rho de Spearman, considerando significativos los valores de p<0,05. Los resultados evidenciaron percepciones mayoritariamente desfavorables en las dimensiones de RSE (social 91,5%; económica 85,1%; ambiental 80,2%) y en la reputación corporativa (valores corporativos 81,3%; comportamiento corporativo comprometido 69,4%; proactividad en la gestión reputacional 87,5%). La prueba Rho de Spearman mostró una correlación positiva significativa (r=0,748; p<0,05) entre ambas variables.
