Pasticipation of women in government structures in Paraguay. Critical analysis perid 1993-2021

The study sought the political participation of women in Paraguay in the period 1993 - 2021. For this, a bibliographic-documentary research was carried out. The tacit exclusion of Paraguayan women from political rights until 1961 was made visible as one of the symbolic antecedents that could explain the low political participation of women in Paraguay. Other factors that could be intersectional to the problem are language, ethnicity, social class and the hourly load of unpaid work assumed. Quantitative data provided by the Legislative Information System (2021) were analyzed. It was found that female participation in the Paraguayan Congress increased steadily in the six legislative periods analyzed and reached 16% in the 2018-2021 period. For this purpose, the incumbent, alternate and life congressmen who accessed spaces in decision-making.
