Descripción
Sumario:The aim of this research work was to evaluate whether cognitive stimulation of working memory (WM) influences the ability to solve arithmetic problems. A quasi-experimental design was used, 20 children from 7 to 8 years old of both sexes participated, divided into an experimental and control group, they were evaluated before and after the problem-solving subtest of the EVAMAT 2 psycho-pedagogical battery. The results indicated that the differences are not significant after the application of cognitive stimulation sessions between the experimental and control groups, either in the averages in numeration and calculation (p= .210) as well as in problem solving (p= .128), but in both cases, an increase was obtained in favor of the experimental group in the numbering and calculation averages (xexp=47,50; xcon=47,50) and problem solving (xexp=8,60; xcon=7,40). It is concluded that the cognitive stimulation tasks developed increase problem solving skills but not significantly.
