description This research explores, through a pre-experimental design, how artistic resources can contribute to health prevention. For this purpose, participants (N = 118) completed a pre-test questionnaire and, after interacting with four testimonial narratives in the COVID-19 Diaries website, specially developed for this research, responded to the post-test. The study investigated the role of art in prevention intention, risk perception, and behavior, as well as the association with narrative transportation and identification with characters, the two main mechanisms explaining narrative persuasion. The results demonstrated the importance of including artistic resources in health narratives and the mediating role of narrative transportation and identification with characters in risk perception during health crises. These findings are of theoretical and methodological importance for understanding the mechanisms of narrative persuasion in health communication research through digital storytelling.

Para ello se desarrolló la página web Diarios de la COVID-19. Allí los participantes (N = 118) llenaron previamente un cuestionario pre-test y, luego de interactuar con cuatro narraciones testimoniales, contestaron el post-test. El estudio investigó el papel del arte en la intención de prevención, percepción y conducta de riesgo, así como la asociación con el transporte narrativo y la identificación con los personajes, los dos mecanismos principales que explican el proceso de la persuasión narrativa. Los resultados demostraron la importancia de incluir recursos artísticos en narraciones para la salud, así como el rol mediador del transporte narrativo y la identificación con los personajes en la percepción de riesgo en crisis sanitarias. Estos resultados son de importancia teórica y metodológica para el funcionamiento de los mecanismos de persuasión narrativa en la investigación de comunicación para la salud a través de narraciones digitales.Esta pesquisa explora, mediante um desenho pré-experimental, como os recursos artísticos podem contribuir para a prevenção da saúde. Para isso, foi desenvolvido o site Diários da COVID-19, em que os participantes (N=118) preencheram previamente um questionário pré-teste e, depois de interagir com quatro narrativas testemunhais, responderam o pós-teste. O estudo investigou o papel da arte na intenção de prevenção, percepção e comportamento de risco, bem como a associação com o transporte narrativo e a identificação com os personagens, dois mecanismos fundamentais que explicam o processo de persuasão narrativa. Os resultados demonstraram a importância de incluir recursos artísticos em narrativas sobre saúde, bem como o papel mediador do transporte narrativo e da identificação com os personagens na percepção de risco durante crises sanitárias.
