Using a systematic review methodology, 97 relevant articles were selected. The main results of the review indicate that Lean not only improves operational efficiency and reduces waste significantly, but also encourages the integration of advanced technologies such as Industry 4.0. In addition, a strong focus on sustainability is observed, with Lean facilitating practices that support environmental conservation and carbon footprint reduction. In conclusion, while Lean Manufacturing has proven to be an effective tool for improving operations, its effective implementation requires tailored approaches that consider the cultural and structural particularities of each company.En este artículo se revisa la implementación y los impactos del en la industria del plástico, con el objetivo de sintetizar y evaluar cómo la adopción de esta metodología ha contribuido a mejorar la eficiencia, reducir costos y optimizar procesos productivos. Utilizando una metodología de revisión sistemática, se seleccionaron 97 artículos pertinentes. Los resultados principales de la revisión han indicado que lean no solo mejora la eficiencia operativa y reduce los desperdicios significativamente, sino que también fomenta la integración de tecnologías avanzadas como la industria 4.0. Además, se ha observado que, por lo general, tiene un enfoque basado en la sostenibilidad, pues lean facilita prácticas que apoyan la conservación ambiental y la reducción de la huella de carbono.
