description In today’s society, media literacy is the key to effective education and critical and participatory citizenship; however, much remains to be done for media education to be effectively integrated and reach the majority of people. The study aims to assess how different media projects contribute to media literacy and critical education of audiences in North America, Latin America and Europe. To this end, a content analysis was carried out of initiatives such as The Learning Network of the New York Times, USMPTV in Peru, The Economist Educational Foundation in the United Kingdom, Público na Escola in Portugal, and the initiatives of Fundación Atresmedia in Spain (Mentes AMI, Efecto MIL and Amibox). The main results reveal that collaborations between media and education strengthen people’s ability to critically analyse media information, as these programmes not only offer educational resources, but also promote informed and engaged citizenship. Finally, the research highlights the need for comprehensive and sustainable approaches that ensure equitable access and adequate training of educational personnel, overcoming technological and socio-cultural limitations.

Sin embargo, aún queda mucho por hacer para que la educación en medios se integre de manera efectiva y llegue a la mayor parte de las personas. El estudio tiene como objetivo evaluar cómo distintos proyectos mediáticos contribuyen a la alfabetización mediática y a la educación crítica de las audiencias en América del Norte, Latinoamérica y Europa. Para ello se realizó un análisis de contenido de iniciativas como The Learning Network del New York Times, USMPTV en Perú, The Economist Educational Foundation en Reino Unido, Público na Escola en Portugal, y las iniciativas de Fundación Atresmedia en España (Mentes AMI, Efecto MIL y Amibox). Los principales resultados revelan que las colaboraciones entre medios y educación fortalecen la capacidad de las personas para analizar críticamente la información mediática, ya que estos programas no solo ofrecen recursos educativos, sino que también promueven una ciudadanía informada y comprometida. La investigación resalta, finalmente, la necesidad de enfoques integrales y sostenibles que garanticen el acceso equitativo y la capacitación adecuada del personal educativo, superando limitaciones tecnológicas y socioculturales.Na sociedade atual, a literacia mediática é a chave para uma educação eficaz e para uma cidadania crítica e participativa; no entanto, há ainda muito a fazer para que a educação para os media seja efetivamente integrada e chegue à maioria das pessoas. O estudo pretende avaliar a forma como diferentes projectos mediáticos contribuem para a literacia mediática e a educação crítica do público na América do Norte, na América Latina e na Europa. Para tal, foi realizada uma análise de conteúdo de iniciativas como The Learning Network do New York Times, USMPTV no Peru, The Economist Educational Foundation no Reino Unido, Público na Escola em Portugal, e as iniciativas da Fundación Atresmedia em Espanha (Mentes AMI, Efecto MIL e Amibox). Os principais resultados revelam que as colaborações entre os media e a educação reforçam a capacidade das pessoas para analisar criticamente a informação dos media, uma vez que estes programas não só oferecem recursos educativos, como também promovem uma cidadania informada e empenhada.
