Descripción
Sumario:Objective. The objective of the research was to analyze, describe and characterize the sexist attitudes in students of the Faculty of Mining Engineering of the Universidad Nacional del Centro del Perú (UNCP). The scientific and deductive method was considered; the study is of a basic type, descriptive level, quantitative approach and non-experimental- cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 254 students who, with their informed consent, were administered the Attitudes Toward Machismo Scale. The data was processed with the statistical program R Studio v.1.2.55001. The results show that there is an attitude of acceptance of machismo in its various dimensions: male dominance, male superiority, male management and leadership of the household, socialization of the differentiated social role, and control of sexuality exercised by the male; all of which are characterized by a position of inferiority and subordination of women to men, family structures where the male is head of the family and economic provider and the woman plays the domestic role and is considered an instrument of procreation. Through the analysis carried out, it is concluded that the sexist attitudes of the students reinforce the patriarchal culture in their social environment.
