To Identify the stinging larvae species complex of the genus Automeris Hübner, 1819 (Lepidoptera: Saturniidae), associated with pigeon pea crops, Cajanus cajan (L.), that represent a health risk for farmers in Panama. Methods. The study is descriptive and exploratory. During the second semester of 2022, trips were made in areas with pigeon pea crops in the provinces of Coclé, Herrera, Veraguas and Chiriquí. A photographic record was kept and specimens were collected, which were prepared with boiling water and then deposited in glass vials with 70 % ethanol. The laboratory identifcation of the specimens was made by consulting specialized literature. Results. Three larvae species of the genus Automeris associated with pigeon pea crops were identifed: Automeris zozine Druce, 1886, and Automeris dagmarae Brechlin & Meister, 2011, in the province of Chiriquí; Automeris io Fabricius, 1775, in the province of Coclé. The genus Automeris belongs to the subfamily Hemileucinae; which includes severalspecies of poisonous larvae that can represent a health risk, such as Lonomia obliqua Walker, 1855, commonly known as the assassin caterpillar. Conclusions. Three species of stinging larvae of the genus Automeris (Lepidoptera:  Saturniidae: Hemileucinae) were identifed, which represent a farmers’ health risk in Panama.

Identifcar el complejo de especies de larvas urticantes del género Automeris Hübner, 1819 (Lepidoptera: Saturniidae), asociadas al cultivo de guandú, Cajanus cajan (L.), que representan un riesgo para la salud de los productores agrícolas en Panamá. Métodos. El estudio es de naturaleza descriptiva y exploratoria. Durante el segundo semestre del año 2022 se realizaron exploraciones en áreas cultivadas con guandú en las provincias de Coclé, Herrera, Veraguas y Chiriquí. Se llevó un registro fotográfco y se realizaron recolectas de especímenes, los cuales fueron sacrifcados con agua hirviendo para luego ser depositados en viales de vidrio con etanol al 70 %. La identifcación se realizó en el laboratorio, consultando literatura especializada. Resultados. Se identifcaron tres especies de larvas del género Automeris asociadas al cultivo de guandú: Automeris zozine Druce, 1886, y Automeris dagmarae Brechlin & Meister, 2011, en la provincia de Chiriquí; Automeris io Fabricius, 1775, en la provincia de Coclé. El género Automeris pertenece a la subfamilia Hemileucinae; la cual comprende varias especies de larvas venenosas que pueden poner en riesgo la salud de las personas, como Lonomia obliqua Walker, 1855, conocida comúnmente como la oruga asesina. Conclusiones. Se identificaron tres especies de larvas urticantes del género Automeris (Lepidoptera: Saturniidae: Hemileucinae), las cuales representan un riesgo para la salud de los productoresObjetivo. Durante o segundo semestre do ano 2022, foram realizadas explorações em áreas cultivadas com ervilhas de pombo nas províncias de Coclé, Herrera, Veraguas e Chiriquí. Um registro fotográfico foi mantido e espécimes foram coletados e sacrificados com água fervente e depois colocados em frascos de vidro com 70 % de etanol. A identificação foi realizada no laboratório, consultando literatura especializada. Resultados. Foram identificadas três espécies de larvas do gênero Automeris associadas ao cultivo de ervilhas de pombo: Automeris zozine Druce, 1886, e Automeris dagmarae Brechlin & Meister, 2011, na província de Chiriquí; Automeris io Fabricius, 1775, na província de Coclé. O gênero Automeris pertence à subfamília Hemileucinae, que inclui várias espécies de larvas venenosas que podem pôr em perigo a saúde das pessoas, como Lonomia obliquinaepessoas, como Lonomia obliqua Walker, 1855, comumente conhecida como a lagarta assassina. Conclusões.
