Objective. To demonstrate the effectiveness of educational tips as a reminder method in fulfilling healthy self-care of elderly persons (EP). Methods. The study was longitudinal, prospective and with intervention: before-after developed in 20 EP, belonging to the program of the Centro Integral del Adulto Mayor (CIAM) or Comprehensive Center for the Elderly of Municipality of Pillcomarca, in the province of Huanuco, Peru, during the year 2018. An interview guide of general characteristics of the sample and a questionnaire of compliance with healthy self-care was applied. Counseling sessions were developed using the educational tips through home visits. Student's t-test was used for related samples, in order to contrast the hypotheses and the bioethical principles were taken into account. Results. Regarding the analysis of compliance with healthy self-care of EP, it was found that, before the intervention, 35 % (7) had correct knowledge of healthy self-care. While, after it, 95% (19) achieved correct knowledge [t = -5.50; p = 0.00]. When contrasting the effectiveness of educational tips as a reminder method in the fulfillment of healthy self-care of EP, during the moments of the study, it was evident that, before the application of the tips, 30% (6) complied with healthy self-care. While, after the intervention, it increased to 85% (17). Conclusion.The intervention developed through educational tips as a reminder method is effective in fulfilling healthy self-care. |

El estudio fue longitudinal, prospectivo y con intervención: antes-después desarrollado en 20 PAMs, pertenecientes al programa del Centro Integral del Adulto Mayor (CIAM) de la Municipalidad de Pillcomarca, de la provincia de Huánuco, Perú, durante el año 2018. Se aplicó una guía de entrevista de las características generales de la muestra y un cuestionario del cumplimiento del autocuidado saludable. Se desarrollaron sesiones de consejería utilizando los tips educativos mediante las visitas domiciliarias. Se utilizó la t de Student para muestras relacionadas, a fin de contrastar las hipótesis y se tuvo en cuenta los principios bioéticos. Resultados. Respecto al análisis del cumplimiento del autocuidado saludable de las PAMs, se halló que, antes de la intervención, el 35 % (7) tenía conocimientos correctos del autocuidado saludable; mientras que, después de la misma, el 95 % (19) logró conocimientos correctos [t = -5,50; p = 0,00]. Al contrastar la efectividad de los tips educativos como método recordatorio en el cumplimiento del autocuidado saludable de las PAMs, durante los momentos del estudio, se evidenció que, antes de la aplicación de los tips, el 30 % (6) cumplía el autocuidado saludable; mientras que, después de la intervención, se aumentó al 85 % (17). Conclusión. La intervención desarrollada mediante los tips educativos como método recordatorio resulta efectiva en el cumplimiento del autocuidado saludable.Objetivo. Demonstrar a eficácia das dicas educacionais como um método de lembrete na conformidade do autocuidado saudável dos adultos mais velhos (PAMs). Métodos. O estudo foi longitudinal, prospectivo e com intervenção: antes e depois desenvolvido em 20 PAMs, pertencentes ao programa do Centro Integral para Idosos (CIAM) do Município de Pillcomarca, na província de Huánuco, Peru, durante 2018. Foram aplicados um guia de entrevista sobre as características gerais da amostra e um questionário sobre o cumprimento de autocuidados saudáveis. As sessões de aconselhamento foram desenvolvidas utilizando as dicas educacionais através de visitas domiciliares. O teste t do estudante para amostras relacionadas foi usado para testar as hipóteses e os princípios bioéticos foram levados em conta. Resultados. Com relação à análise da conformidade saudável do autocuidado dos PAMs, verificou-se que, antes da intervenção, 35% (7) tinham um conhecimento correto do autocuidado saudável; enquanto que, após a intervenção, 95% (19) conseguiram um conhecimento correto [t = -5,50; p = 0,00]. Ao contrastar a eficácia das dicas educativas como método de lembrete no cumprimento de autocuidados saudáveis dos PAMs, durante os momentos do estudo, ficou evidenciado que, antes da aplicação das dicas, 30% (6) cumpria com autocuidados saudáveis; enquanto que, após a intervenção, aumentou para 85% (17). Conclusão.
