In the field of health sciences, research converges on the knowledge of an area of interest or a research question, using the scientific research methodology to analyze and test the hypothesis formulated. However, the "types" of research can be considered different compared to other areas and are referred to as "research designs".  La adquisición y generación de conocimientos mediante la investigación constituye uno de los pilares fundamentales para todas las ciencias en general. El proceso para llevar a cabo un trabajo de investigación se impulsa a través del método científico, cuyo objetivo es validar una hipótesis planteada mediante una serie de pasos sistemáticos (1). En el ámbito de las ciencias de la salud, la investigación converge en el conocimiento de un área de interés o una pregunta de investigación, utilizando la metodología de la investigación científica para analizar y poner a prueba la hipótesis formulada.
